Laura Linney is an American actor who has become well-known for her performance of vulnerable but strong characters. Born to a well-known playwright's father but being raised by a single mother who worked as a nurse, she became interested in theatre while having summers spent with her father, eventually studying acting, initially as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. In just two short years following graduation, she launched her Broadway-based career. In the following year, she made her first appearance in the world of film and television. In the years since, she's been in many films, TV productions and stage shows. Her nominations include three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and received several awards during her professional career. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards, and three Academy Award nominations. But, in spite of her awards and accolades, the theatre is still her passion and she is determined to play on stage and screen.
